Anderson Silva gets a bad rap

I am not an Anderson Silva fan, but it isnt due to his shenanigans against demian Maia or anything of that nature. I just am not a fan for whatever reason.. possibly cause i am a rich franklin fan and i can't forgive him for wrecking Rich's nose.

anyhow, I think the hate Anderson has been getting is ridiculous and it isn't his fault, it is the UFC's fault.

Anderson fought a similar opponent in Thales Leites, and Leites laid on his back the whole fight and wouldn't engage. Was a terrible fight and Anderson got ridiculed. So u fast forward to Maia doing the same thing. The UFC should've known better to put Maia *who had just been knocked out 2 fights previously by Nate Marquardt, in this fight.

Anderson is from Brazil, he sees the American Culture, but doesn't quite understand exactly the showboating nature etc.. so he may have went overboard trying to be entertaining. In his mind, he probably has seen Muhammad Ali, and other US athletes and he thought thats what being entertaining was.

I admit, i laughed my ass off when he was playing guitar as he was circling around Maia! hahahaha! crazy/funny shit

thing is, now he is being destroyed in the press.. he even got dropped to number 2 on the p4p list behind GSP!!!!!!!

WTF!? Silva has demolished EVERYBODY including the former LHW champion in devastating fashion. GSP is a great fighter but his best win is against an undersized BJ Penn.

Silva just needed a worthy opponent and someone who will fight him. Chael Sonnen seriously could be the first death in MMA when they fight, especially all the shit he has talked.

so people cut Anderson a break.. he may have acted a fool but he still once again dominated his opponent.

I have to say that Silva is probably the best P4P fighter in the world. I thought it was Fedor, but at this point I am going with Silva. I don't like anything disrespectful, but I gotta tell you that I believe that respect is EARNED and not given. I didn't see his antics during the Maia fight as disrespectful. I actually thought it was very entertaining.

I wasn't a very big A. Silva fan until that point. A lot of people love GSP and he has become a snooze-fest fighter every time he fights. I am an MMA fan. I have been involved in the sport, trained in the sport and promoted the sport since I began watching the early UFC's. I don't mind the gameplan of these fighters who aren't "exciting". If they have the skill to hold a world class fighter on the mat and pound on them for 3 to 5 rounds, then they deserve the titles and money that comes along with it.

I agree that Silva will make short work of Sonnen, but it won't be the first death in MMA... not even if Silva does kill him. There was a death about a year or so ago (I think in Texas) and a guy got killed in the cage this past weekend in South Carolina. So, if Silva kills Sonnen, it would be the third death in MMA in the U.S. and the fourth over all...

Wow! I didn't realize people had died. Wonder what happened? was it fight related? or did they just have heart problems?

The first guy had some kind of brain issue before his fight and went to the hospital after his fight and died from fight-related injuries. The guy in S.C. got knocked out and never woke up. Bad for the sport. I hope it doesn't cause too much trouble with the sport. As with a lot of these fighters, they are getting greedy and turning pro WAAAAYYYYYYY too soon. This guy obviously had no reason to be in the ring with a pro fighter. The governing body should have monitored this a little more closely as well IMO

I wonder if the guy had some type of preexisting aneurysm that was never detected?

I know the crappy female ref in the Cyborg fight the other night should be fired and stripped of her license. that could've ended very bad.

Yeah and she reffed some of the UFC fights a couple weeks ago too. She is horrible.

The aneurysm thing is quite possible, but there will certainly be more and more deaths in MMA in the years to come. Elbows and shin bones to the head. The fists are covered with 4 oz. gloves, but there is a cast-like wrapping under them. Blunt force trauma often causes death and it will certainly happen in MMA as the fighters get bigger and stronger and .... juiced up.

I love MMA, but it is something that the fighters are going to have to be aware of. It is very dangerous. Especially when there is a half-ass ref or when the athletic commission allows a turd to fight a killer.

Thats what worries me with Brock Saturday.. one punch from Carwin could end things.

If Brock ever learns to elbow on the ground instead of Hammer fisting.. that could be brutally bad.
