I have always been a supporter of Michael Vick, and I am a huge fan of his football abilities, but is there a dumber human being in the NFL?
First, Vick pisses away over a 100 million dollar NFL contract plus endorsements in a ridiculous dog fighting fiasco that was too bizarre to be true and it ended up costing him everything.
When Vick got out of prison last year, many wondered if an NFL team would even be willing to take a chance. People would've forgiven him easier over murdering someone drinking and driving than they would murdering dogs and it wasn't pretty to say the least when he got out of prison.
The Philadelphia Eagles, gave Vick his second chance, one that i was 100 percent behind and I defended it to everyone. Vick, millions of dollars in debt, and at rock bottom, got an opportunity at redemption.
First year in Philly, Vick was a model citizen, talking to high schools, inner cities, boys and girls clubs, doing excellent PR for his reputation and making amends for his past transgressions. Vick didn't have a lot of success on the field, but he contributed here and there when called upon and was an excellent teammate.
Donovan McNabb was traded to Washington in the offseason, and it appears Vick actually may have a chance at being a starting NFL QB again... Redemption complete, the comeback solidified. Vick will earn over 5 million this season and slowly be able to regain the life he had, or at least some semblance of the life he had before prison.
So, fast forward to last week and LOW AND BEHOLD, Vick's name attached to more trouble. Seems one of his co-defendants and i guess a snitch, showed up uninvited to Vick's 30th birthday party. 3 mins after Vick leaves.. the guy is SHOT!
When questioned, Vick said he was long gone before the shooting, estimating around 30 mins... Surveillance cameras show Vick leaving 3 mins before and the shots came from the direction in which he drove......
I'm not saying Vick is guilty, I'm not saying he is even involved, but when u are given a zero tolerance policy, when the slightest screw-up means your career, your livelihood, your families' future is forever in shambles, U think u would be a little low key, a little more responsible.
Having a PUBLIC birthday party and charging 50 dollars a pop to get in is just plain freaking STUPID! How are u gonna just invite people u don't even know for 50 bucks? If that isn't a recipe for disaster, I don't know what is.
I have always been a huge defender of Vick, championed his rights for a 2nd chance... but if he gets cut and If i were Philly, I would've cut him yesterday, He has nobody to blame but his own DAMN self.
Get rid of the beggars and Hangers on, make a quiet nice life for your immediate family.. sometimes u have to say goodbye to keeping it real.
