I know that i am in the super minority here. I know, he is a diva, bad teammate, overrated as some say...
I don't agree. I think Favre genuinely wants to retire but the realization of never being able to do something you love, never being able to hear the cheers, feel that adrenaline, that competitive fire haunts him.
All the greats have a hard time walking away, cause what do you do once the cheers stop? Imagine something you love doing more than anything in the world. Now imagine having to give that up forever. Knowing once you stop, for the remainder of your life, you can never do it again.
I never blamed Green Bay for what they did because they had a great rookie QB they had to turn the franchise over. No one, however, should feel sorry for Minnesota. Minnesota are Favre or bust. Without Bret, they go from Super Bowl contender, to missing the playoffs. That is a fact.
I,also, hate hearing people compare Favre to the T.O's and Ocho's etc. Favre has never gotten a coach fired to my knowledge. Actually, quite the contrary,Favre gets average coaches*Cough Brad Childress Cough* extensions. Favre Makes good WR's great, great WR's excellent. You know how many multi-millionaire WR's Brett Favre is responsible for? Do you think Sidney Rice has that season with Turdvaris Jackson?
Also,in our 24/7 media craze and everyone being more consumed with getting the scoop than reporting the news, you hear alot of BS, a lot of "Fake" sources, just so a reporter can get their fame and name in the headlines.
Favre had ankle surgery. Favre stated if he is healthy he will play, that is all you can ask from him. If he isn't healthy, he can't play.
Also, sure Favre throws some picks in crunch time but, do Minnesota even get to that point without Favre? Let us also not forget the 12man in the huddle that knocked them out of FG Range or the fact Adrian Peterson had big cripping fumbles or he barely avg 2yards per carry on that final drive. Favre took a shot, it got picked,oh well. Let's blame the entire game on him.
Favre has been guilty in the past, but not this time.
