I know that players are getting banged up and suffering very dangerous injuries, but isn't that really what football is all about? Who wants to see a football game with no violent hitting? Isn't that what flag football is for?
There is a difference between late hits / dirty plays and playing football the way it was meant to be played. Do we really want to see guys being suspended for violent hits? I say yes... if it was late or dirty. But if a guy is doing what he has been trained to do since grade-school then why punish him?
Equipment has come a long way and it still doesn't protect the players fully. If football wasn't so violent it would be filled with track stars and basketball/baseball players. Don't take that out of context. I think all athletes are tough, but do you think you would have ever seen Kobe Bryant in the NFL? HELL NO! He's a gurly man and he is the best player in the NBA!
I think the NFL needs to be very careful in what they do in changing rules and slowing down violence. My boy Toy Aikmen may have played 10 more years if they had put in these rules years ago! Well, maybe five more years!

banning helmet to helmet is simply unrealistic. Player A's helmet is this big, Player B's helmet is the same size... it doesn't leave much room so a clash of helmets is gonna happen more times than not. Especially a Running back who drops his head coming through the line. There really is no way to avoid it.They don't have to go extreme with the rule. More rules to help protect vulnerable WR's in bad positions.
The rule where if u just barely swipe the QB's helmet is sissy and stupid. Pretty soon, QB's are gonna have a red jersey and it will be two hand touch on the QB.
