This is taking nothing away from Manny Pacquaio. He is an amazing warrior, a fantastic fighter and boxer. One of the best of all time and that cannot be argued. However, people are truly becoming prisoners of the moment and automatically have him running through Floyd Mayweather, and that is just simply premature and a little ridiculous to assume.
Can Manny defeat Floyd? Sure, of course. No doubt he could. the problem is the criteria people are using to justify their arguments. The arguments simply aren't being completely truthful and showing all the facts.
For example: Manny's last fights:
Crush Oscar De la Hoya: Now casual fans will say "WOW!" He murdered Oscar De La Hoya! OMG! What they don't realize is, he hardly destroyed THE Oscar De La Hoya from 7-10 years ago. He beat an aging, over the hill shell of Oscar De La Hoya. Almost like Danny Williams bragging he defeated Mike Tyson.. well yeah technically but you didn't beat THE Mike Tyson. Same here. he beat the name De La Hoya, but not THE De La Hoya.
Fight after against Ricky Hatton is the same as above. Let's dont forget Floyd also dominated Hatton as well. actually a better looking Hatton.
Next you get Miguel Cotto. I am a Cotto fan and yes, this is a fantastic win no doubt. Look closer though and you will see that Cotto just hasn't been the same since he got pounded into submission by the illegal hands of concrete of Antonio Margarito. Cotto isn't the same fighter, probably never will be.
Joshua Clottey....... uhhhhh Next... punching bag with arms
Antonio Margarito: Margarito coming off a huge suspension. Really had no reason even being in this fight. Didn't earn it, barely won a decision against a complete can in Mexico while he was suspended. Lost to Shane Mosley before that and got suspended after. Truth be told, if his gloves were loaded against Mosley, who is to say they weren't for all of his fights?
on the flip side, Manny Pacquiao fought to a draw and a controversial split decision win over Juan Manuel Marquez, that many boxing experts think JMM won. Floyd Mayweather fought Marquez recently and won every single round in a complete blowout.
So sure, Manny is spectacular, but Floyd Mayweather is the greatest defensive fighter of not only his generation, but maybe ever. If people think Manny will land 400 punches on Mayweather, they are insane. Floyd is quick enough, slick enough, defensive enough to make this an amazing fight.
I hear how Floyd is a "coward." I do not agree. Floyd's trainer, his uncle Roger Mayweather is about to go on trial. So is Floyd suppose to fight maybe the biggest fight since the Ali/Frazier epics with those kinds of distractions going on? Would Manny fight without Freddie Roach? Of course not.
I give Floyd the benefit of the doubt. Let Roger and now Floyd's legal trouble get taken care of, and then let's see what happens.
